Chinese-Cuban fusion restaurant in Greenwich Village for dinners, birthdays, and buyouts up to 120

Description
Calle Dao Downtown is a Chinese-Cuban fusion restaurant at 543 LaGuardia Pl in Greenwich Village, situated between SoHo and the West Village. The concept pays homage to Havana's once-thriving El Barrio Chino, the Chinatown that occupied 44 square blocks of the city in the late 1870s, where Cuban and Chinese cultures mixed to create a unique fusion cuisine. The 1,500-square-foot space carries that story through its design: white-washed walls, distressed wood, whirring ceiling fans, large murals, and Chinese artwork with bright accents, all created by owner Marco Britti. The menu blends Cuban staples with Asian flavors — think steamed shrimp wontons, lobster noodles, and Ropa Vieja — while the cocktail program, crafted by mixologist Joy Daniel, pairs historical names with modern ingredients alongside classics like mojitos. For events, the venue works across a range of formats: intimate private dining for up to 25 guests, seated dinners for up to 65, and full standing buyouts for up to 120. The atmosphere is festive and sultry rather than formal, which makes it a natural fit for birthdays, casual corporate gatherings, cocktail receptions, and dinner parties.
