Cuban-Chinese fusion restaurant in Chelsea for dinners, buyouts, and cocktail receptions up to 150

Description
Calle Dao Chelsea is a Cuban-Chinese fusion restaurant on West 23rd Street inspired by Havana's once-thriving El Barrio Chino (Chinatown), which occupied 44 square blocks in the late 1870s. As Cuban and Chinese cultures mixed there, a distinctive fusion cuisine emerged — and the food, cocktails, and decor at Calle Dao are all designed to evoke that era. The space, created by owner Marco Britti, feels like a sultry, old-world Havana restaurant: white-washed walls, distressed wood, whirring ceiling fans, and accents of Chinese artwork, spices, and bright color. The menu blends Cuban staples with Asian flavors in shareable dishes like mojo pork dumplings, Cuban sandwich spring rolls, and chicken and yellow rice. The cocktail program, designed by mixologist Joy Daniel, pairs historical names with modern ingredients, melding Latin and Asian flavors. For events, the venue works at several scales. A full restaurant buyout accommodates up to 150 guests standing or 80 seated, while an elevated mezzanine offers a semi-private option for groups of up to 20, and intimate private dining setups can be arranged for around 30 guests. The atmosphere and location near the High Line and Chelsea galleries make it a natural fit for birthday dinners, corporate happy hours, holiday parties, and cocktail receptions.
